Dentures
Dentures are the most traditional way of replacing lost teeth. Contemporary times have seen a shift away from traditional dentures and teeth being replaced by dental implants. However, in certain cases where one is used to wearing dentures and has worn them for a long time, it may still be the preferred option.
Dentures can be made from acrylic, valplast (flexible dentures) or cobalt chrome.
Types of Dentures
Acrylic dentures
These are the most traditional and commonly used denture type. They are easy to make and very affordable.
Flexible denture
Flexible dentures are made from valplast which allow them to flex or bend in your mouth. They are more comfortable and better fitting than the acrylic denture because they are able to move and bend with the movements in your mouth. The material is also softer and easier on your gums.
Cobalt Chrome dentures
These dentures are made with a cobalt chrome base with acrylic teeth. The metal base makes the denture very strong, durable and long lasting. It also has the advantage of fitting very well and tightly in your mouth. Cobalt chrome dentures rarely move and are considered to be comfortable and retentive.
