Dental veneers can be made from any of the materials mentioned below:
Composite resin is a tooth-coloured pliable material that can be placed directly unto your teeth. It is widely used in dental fillings and for cosmetic bonding. Its main advantage is that it can be placed in a single visit.
There are several types of porcelain and zirconia options available. The type used depends on your specific situation. The chief objective is achieve excellent aesthetics, however, several other factors are to be considered when selecting material. These include:
Just like the choices available for dental crowns, we, at Ashford are able to provide you with the full range of contemporary ceramic options:
We offers a comprehensive range of dental specialists to address various dental concerns effectively
The veneer process begins with a thorough consultation on why veneers are desirable in this case. We will discuss your specific objectives and present several options for you to choose from. As part of the consultation process, we will do:
Composite Veneers This can be done under local anaesthesia so the procedure is painless and you will not feel a thing. The teeth we intend to veneer are prepared slightly to achieve a strong bond and desirable aesthetics. We then treat the teeth surfaces with special primers which facilitate bonding with the composite resin. The resin can then be placed directly onto the teeth surfaces and shaped according to your objectives. We will then trim and polish the veneers to ensure they are smooth and look exactly as you wish. Porcelain or Zirconia This can be done under local anaesthesia so the procedure is painless and you will not feel any pain. Most times, very little or no preparation is needed. But when it is required, no more than 0.3-0.5mm of enamel is very gently beveled off the teeth we intend to veneer. We then take an intra-oral scan which is sent to our laboratory. We will then fabricate temporary veneers for you while the permanent veneers are being made. The entire process takes about 45 to 60 minutes (depending on how many veneers we are doing) and is entirely painless. Once the permanent veneers are ready, the appointment to issue them typically takes around 30 minutes (depending on the number of veneers we are doing). We will remove the temporary veneers, clean the tooth surface and cement the permanent veneers on it. We will then ensure that your bite is comfortable and harmonious with opposing teeth. We will also ensure you are able to clean and floss around the veneers.
As with any dental procedure, follow-ups are an important part of the process. We will typically schedule review appointments 2 weeks later, subsequently every 6 months thereafter. This ensures the veneers are constantly monitored and the prosthesis is comfortable, functional and long lasting.
Provided the underlying tooth remains healthy, the veneers are checked by our doctors at your regular checkups and your oral hygiene remains sound, there is no reason why porcelain veneers will fail. They have been used routinely for many years to achieve a great smile for many patients worldwide. They have been shown to clinically outlast normal tooth colored fillings and shown to have superior aesthetics and durability.
Dental Veneers essentially make over your smile giving you the appearance you always desired.
Try-in veneers are used first so you can spend some time feeling what your permanent veneers will be like.

Enamel that is damaged may be worrisome since once lost, it cannot regrow. Luckily, you have the option to substitute it. Veneers are a great option for teeth that have enamel abrasion or erosion, and they also have a nice appearance.
How long dental veneers last varies based on the type (porcelain or composite) and your maintenance routine. Porcelain laminate veneers have a lifespan of 10 to 12 years. Composite resin veneers have a shorter lifespan of approximately 4 to 8 years, requiring more frequent replacement.
Once veneers are in place, it is impossible to return to your original teeth. This happens because a small portion of enamel is eliminated from the teeth in order to create space for the veneers. Even if they are extracted, your teeth will appear altered and could be more fragile and suffer from increased sensitivity.
You may not feel significant discomfort during the placement process, however, it may take a few weeks for your mouth to get used to the changes made. You may notice slight tenderness, need to realign your bite, and experience a bulky sensation in your teeth temporarily. This is just a temporary situation.
In addition to the slight removal of enamel, well-fitted and bonded veneers do not affect the surrounding teeth. Most clients will not face the problems or scary stories they have been told about, like unpleasant odors or decay of their real teeth.
Composite veneers are sometimes referred to as “same-day veneers” because they can be put on in just one visit. At least two visits are necessary for porcelain veneers.
Although porcelain veneers can generally withstand most foods, caution should be exercised with hard items such as apples, raw carrots, and bone-in meats. Cracking the porcelain is a risk when biting on very hard foods, so it is advisable to use your molars to chew them instead.
Grinding your teeth while sleeping can lead to significant harm to your porcelain veneers and might also result in them becoming dislodged. Grinding your teeth at night can also lead to damage or erosion of your natural teeth. In order to avoid this avoidable harm, make sure to wear a night guard while you are sleeping.
Composite veneers consist of thin resin layers that are applied to the tooth’s surface without damaging the enamel. This substance can be shaped directly onto the tooth, enabling a more attractive, natural, and healthier smile. The process may require one or multiple sessions, depending on the quantity of teeth needing treatment.
Dental veneers, also known as porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates, are custom-made thin shells in the color of teeth that are placed on the front surface of teeth to alter your appearance. These shells are attached to the front of the teeth, altering their color, shape, size, or length.
Veneers do not cause harm to your teeth. Nonetheless, there is still a chance for decay to occur in the original tooth structure. Hence, it is crucial to regularly brush, floss, and see your dentist for cleanings.
Waiting for girls to reach 14 to 16 years of age and boys to be around 18 years old, as this is when the jaw usually stops growing and changing in size and shape. Placing veneers while jaw growth is still ongoing may cause teeth to move and veneers to become misaligned.
Veneers and the teeth they are placed on require appropriate maintenance! Brushing your veneers and teeth twice a day is extremely important. We suggest using a gentle toothpaste without harsh ingredients such as baking soda and charcoal.
A dentist has the ability to remove veneers in order to replace them, however, in majority of situations, it is not possible to have veneers removed and return to your natural teeth. Patients should thoroughly contemplate the level of dedication required before selecting this treatment choice.
