Invisalign is a type of orthodontic treatment that involves using customized, clear ‘aligners’ (similar to clear retainers) to gradually straighten your teeth and correct bite problems. Invisalign has enjoyed tremendous popularity due to its comfort, flexibility of wear and patient involvement in treatment planning. These treatments are available at our clinic in Singapore. Our dentists will do a 3D mock-up of what your teeth currently look like and what they will look like after Invisalign treatment. You are free to see the final result and even make adjustments before the procedure.
Aligners are a modern orthodontic solution designed to straighten teeth. Unlike traditional metal braces, aligners are clear, removable and custom-made for each patient. One of the most popular brands of clear aligners is Invisalign.
Aligners work by applying gentle, consistent pressure to teeth, gradually moving them into the desired position. A series of aligners is typically used, with each set worn for about two weeks before progressing to the next. This method ensures a controlled and predictable movement of teeth.
1. Aesthetic Appeal: Aligners are nearly invisible, making them a discreet option for teeth straightening compared to traditional metal braces.
2. Comfort: Made from smooth, medical-grade plastic, aligners are more comfortable as they do not have metal brackets or wires that can irritate the gums and cheeks.
3. Convenience: Aligners are removable, allowing for easy eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. This feature helps maintain better oral hygiene compared to fixed braces.
4. Predictable Results: The treatment is planned using digital imaging, which helps in visualizing the final outcome and ensuring more predictable results.
Aligners are effective for treating various orthodontic issues such as crowding, spacing and some bite problems. However, they may not be suitable for severe cases, which might still require traditional braces or other orthodontic treatments.
Aesthetic Advantages: Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible, made from a proprietary “Smart Track” material that’s light and almost undetectable to the naked eye. This allows for discreet orthodontic treatment, perfect for individuals who want to improve their smiles without announcing it to the world.
Comfort and Convenience: The design of Invisalign aligners ensures comfort. They’re smooth and tailored to your teeth, eliminating abrasions on the tongue, lips or cheeks often associated with traditional braces. Additionally, they offer the flexibility to be removed at will, accommodating your lifestyle and comfort.
No Dietary Restrictions: Invisalign aligners are designed to be removed during meals, allowing you to enjoy your favorite foods without limitations and maintain optimal oral hygiene easily by brushing and flossing as you normally would.
Flexibility and Fewer Dental Visits: With Invisalign, you’re given several aligners at a time, reducing the frequency of dental visits. Our team will notify you when it’s time to transition to the next aligner in the series, providing the perfect balance between professional oversight and personal convenience.
Transparency in Treatment Planning: Invisalign’s advanced 3D ClinCheck Pro® technology allows us to create a detailed visual representation of your current dental condition and the expected results after treatment. This transparency in the treatment planning stage ensures you’re fully informed about your journey towards a better smile, even before the treatment begins at our clinics in Singapore.
Determining the suitability for Invisalign treatment largely depends on the individual’s unique orthodontic needs and personal preferences. Here are some key points to consider that might help you understand if Invisalign could be the right choice for you:
✔ Nearly invisible
✔ Removable and lifestyle-friendly
✔ Shorter and more predictable treatment time
✔ Suitable for mild to complex orthodontic cases
✔ Comfortable with no brackets, wires, or mouth abrasions
✔ Digitally planned and fully customised
With Invisalign, you can straighten your teeth without disrupting your appearance, work, social life or diet.
We offers a comprehensive range of dental specialists to address various dental concerns effectively
All Invisalign treatment at our clinic in Singapore begins with a detailed consultation with you. We will take the time to understand your concerns and what exactly you want to correct about your teeth position or your bite. We will then proceed with a thorough records-taking session. This includes X-rays, scans, impressions and photographs to ensure a complete understanding of your current dental situation. This involves:
A panoramic X-Ray
A lateral cephalometric X-Ray
Intra-oral scans of your teeth
Impressions of your teeth
Intra-oral and extra oral photographs
Customized Treatment Plan: We will proceed with formulating a treatment plan customized for you and send this to Invisalign. The Invisalign technicians will then develop a 3-Dimensional mock-up of your existing teeth and how you will look like when the proposed treatment is done.
ClinCheck Review: The treatment plan is visualized using a 3D mock-up with ClinCheck software. This step involves the patient in the approval process, ensuring transparency and agreement on the expected result before proceeding. We can send this to you via email or you can visit our clinic in Singapore and go through any questions you might have before we approve the treatment plan.
Aligner Delivery: After approval, Invisalign will send all of your aligners to us within 4-6 weeks. You will begin wearing the aligners, gradually acclimatizing to them.
Aligner Usage: Consistent use of the aligners is crucial to success. The “Smart-Track” material used in the aligners makes them very comfortable and easy to wear. Patients are advised to wear the aligners for the recommended duration of 18-22 hours per day for optimal results.
Review Appointments: We will schedule review appointments every 6-12 weeks at one of our clinics in Singapore (depending on your schedule). Regular review appointments are scheduled to monitor progress, make necessary adjustments and provide the next set of aligners. These appointments usually are of short duration. This helps keep the treatment process on track and aligned with the expected timeline.
Retainer Usage: Once the treatment is complete, we will provide you with a customized set of retainers. These retainers are comfortable, soft, clear plastic trays that fit snugly onto your teeth. You will have to wear them every night before sleeping. This will ensure your newly straightened teeth remain in their positions and do not relapse into their original pre-treatment positions. Retainers are designed to maintain the final desired position of the teeth, preventing natural shifting and ensuring the longevity of the treatment results.
Follow-up Appointments: Regular follow-up visits are essential in any orthodontic treatment plan. These appointments allow our specialists to monitor the stability of the treatment outcome, make any necessary adjustments and ensure your smile stays as beautiful and healthy as it should be.

Invisible braces, commonly known as clear aligners, offer a discreet and effective alternative to traditional metal braces for orthodontic treatment. They are made from clear, medical-grade plastic, which makes them virtually invisible when worn. The most popular brand of clear aligners is Invisalign, though other brands also exist.
Aesthetic Appeal: Invisible braces are nearly invisible, making them a popular choice for adults and teenagers who prefer a less noticeable orthodontic solution.
Comfort: Made from smooth plastic, clear aligners are generally more comfortable than traditional metal braces, with no wires or brackets to cause irritation.
Removability: Clear aligners can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing, which promotes better oral hygiene and fewer dietary restrictions.
Effectiveness: They are effective in treating a variety of dental issues, including overcrowding, gaps and some bite problems. However, they might not be suitable for very complex cases.
Cost: The cost of invisible braces can vary but is generally higher than traditional braces. The exact cost depends on the complexity of the case and the duration of treatment.
Treatment Time: The treatment time can be shorter compared to traditional braces, but this depends on the specific orthodontic needs of the patient.
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten teeth. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners are almost invisible, making them a popular choice for both adults and teenagers who want a more discreet orthodontic option. The treatment process involves wearing a new set of aligners every one to two weeks, which are custom-made based on a 3D scan of your teeth.
Initial Consultation: The first step is to consult with an orthodontist who will evaluate your teeth and determine if Invisalign is suitable for you. A 3D scan or impression of your teeth will be taken to create a customized treatment plan.
Customized Aligners: The Invisalign lab creates a series of aligners tailored to your specific dental structure. Each aligner gradually shifts your teeth into the desired position.
Wearing Aligners: Aligners must be worn for 20-22 hours a day and only removed for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. Each set of aligners is typically worn for one to two weeks before moving to the next set.
Cleaning and Maintenance: It is crucial to maintain proper hygiene by cleaning the aligners regularly using a special cleaning kit or a soft toothbrush and mild soap. Avoid using hot water, as it can warp the plastic.
Regular Check-ups: Periodic visits to the orthodontist are necessary to monitor progress and make any needed adjustments. These appointments are typically scheduled every 6-8 weeks.
Results: The total treatment time varies depending on the complexity of the case, but most patients complete treatment within 12 to 18 months. Post-treatment, a retainer is usually recommended to maintain the new position of the teeth.
A significant advantage with Invisalign is the level of comfort throughout the process. There are no brackets and wire, so you do not feel anything pushing against your gums, lips or tongue. It is an entirely painless process.
This will be dependent on your specific condition. Some Invisalign treatments take as little as ten weeks to achieve your dream smile. Others can take up to 12-14 months to achieve the desired result. One certainty is that as long as you wear your aligners, you will see great results in a relatively short time frame. You will also enjoy the process.
Essentially, a clear aligner is made to fit on your teeth as they are right now. Then, one is made for the final position of your teeth. A few aligners will be made between the start and end of your treatment, correcting your teeth’s position a few millimeters at a time. This ensures that your teeth is not subjected to too much pressure, allowing them to remain healthy and strong. That said, keep in mind that we are changing the position of each tooth with every aligner you wear. As long as your aligners are worn constantly, there will be a constant but very light force on each tooth to move it into the desired position gradually. The number of aligners you need depends on how much straightening is required. It can be anywhere between 7 and 25 or 30 aligners. Each aligner is generally worn for two weeks. During those two weeks, your teeth will shift into the position predetermined for that particular aligner. Then, we will move on to the next aligner and so on until your teeth are in the final desired position shown to you during the initial 3D mockup.
Unfortunately, you can only use Medisave typically for surgical procedures or day surgeries. If you are uncertain, give our staff at our clinic a call to check first before starting on your Invisalign treatment in Singapore.
Typically, dental insurance plans do not cover orthodontic treatments at clinics like Invisalign in Singapore and are supplementary benefits that have to be paid for separately.
Yes, you will have to do so. But the good news is that after a certain period of time, you do not need to wear it for such long hours every day.
In some cases, this can happen if your teeth move positions after the treatment or when you do not wear your retainers daily.
