Lately, I’ve been trying to understand which option—veneers or crowns—is actually better for improving my smile. Both seem to fix appearance issues, but I’m confused about how they differ, when each one is used, and which treatment might be more suitable for my dental condition. I just want to make the right choice that will look natural and last long.

Veneers and crowns are both popular cosmetic dental treatments, but they serve slightly different purposes. Veneers are thin porcelain or composite shells bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve appearance, ideal for discolouration, minor chips or slightly misaligned teeth. Crowns, on the other hand, cover the entire tooth and are used when a tooth is weakened, cracked or heavily restored, providing both strength and aesthetic improvement. While veneers are more conservative and preserve more natural tooth structure, crowns offer maximum protection for damaged teeth. At Ashford Dental Centre, our dentists carefully assess your teeth to recommend whether veneers or crowns will best achieve your cosmetic and functional goals.
