I’ve been feeling discomfort at the back of my mouth and I’m not sure if it’s just normal wisdom tooth growth or something more serious. The pain comes and goes, and sometimes I feel pressure or soreness when chewing. I want to understand the signs of an impacted wisdom tooth and when it actually requires removal.

You may have an impacted wisdom tooth if you experience symptoms like jaw pain, swollen gums, difficulty opening your mouth, bad breath, or repeated infections near the back of your mouth. Impacted wisdom teeth often grow at an angle, get trapped under the gums, or push against neighbouring teeth. However, some impacted teeth show no symptoms at all and are only detected on an X-ray. At Ashford Dental Centre, our dentists use digital imaging to check the tooth’s position and determine whether removal is needed to prevent pain, decay, or future complications.
